I am delighted to share our case report, “Extraction of Nonvital Tusks in a Standing Sedated Bornean Elephant Using a Simple Noncollapsing Rotational Extraction Technique”, has been published in the Journal of Veterinary Dentistry, a peer-reviewed publication!
It took months of hard work and planning with the support of a great team, to execute this procedure, which happens to be the first of its kind in Malaysia. I believe this is a great milestone for wildlife medicine in the country and a great example of transnational collaboration of veterinary medicine. Just like how veterinary care should be, without boundaries. I am proud to share this moment with all team members who strive to practice the best animal welfare for captive wildlife.
My sincere gratitude to Borneo Wildlife Preservation for the generosity in providing funds, the Sabah Wildlife Department 5R Hidupan Liar for their commitment to providing best care possible for wildlife, ศูนย์อนุรักษ์ช้างไทย จ.ลำปาง The Thai Elephant Conservation Center Lampang, Zoological Park Organization of Thailand (ZPOT), Chiang Mai University (CMU), Chulalongkorn University (CU) for their veterinary expertise, and all supporting members.
